At Self Optimise, therapy is a collaborative journey — one where you’re in the driver’s seat.
My goal is to make you feel at ease from the start so you can share openly and feel truly heard. Together, we’ll build the tools, knowledge, and strategies to help you become your own therapist, empowering you to take control of your mental and emotional wellbeing.
Our inner world—our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors—shapes how we experience the world. When these patterns aren’t serving us well, they can lead to emotional distress, physical symptoms, and unhelpful habits. Through Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH), we gently explore these patterns and help you transform them.
How We Work Together
I believe that CBH offers a holistic and practical approach that combines mindfulness, CBT, and hypnosis to help you better understand and change the patterns that hold you back.
CBT techniques help us explore your triggers and habitual responses.
We’ll practice tools like relaxation, cognitive defusion, acceptance, mindfulness, and self-hypnosis to shift those patterns and bring about meaningful change.
Our focus is on the here and now, addressing recent experiences and the patterns that are holding you back.
CBH is a brief, practical approach that typically leads to faster results—usually within 4-8 sessions, depending on your goals.
What to Expect
Initial Consultation
We’ll start with a friendly, 30-minute consultation where we’ll discuss what’s going on for you and decide whether CBH is the right fit. This is also where I’ll introduce a guided mindfulness or cognitive defusion recording for you to start practicing right away.
Ongoing Sessions
First session: A deep dive into your symptoms and an introduction to psychoeducation. We’ll set goals and start tailoring your treatment plan. Sessions usually last 90 minutes.
Follow-up sessions: After the first, each session will be 60 minutes, focused on practicing new skills, exploring more adaptive alternatives, and building new patterns of thinking and behavior.
We’ll work through hypnosis and real-life exercises to rehearse new ways of being, checking in on your progress along the way.
Tools & Practice
Daily self-hypnosis recordings and mindfulness exercises are provided to help you practice between sessions.
A self-monitoring form will help you track your progress and pinpoint areas where we might need to adjust.
Final Sessions
As we approach the end of your treatment, we’ll focus on ensuring you’re confident using your new skills independently. Together, we’ll craft a long-term plan for ongoing success.
Follow-Up
To support your long-term growth, I offer a follow-up call a few months after treatment to check in and make sure you feel supported.
Why This Works
Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapy is a brief, effective approach that can bring fast results. By combining CBT and hypnotherapy, we can target both conscious and explore more deep rooted patterns, offering a powerful way to create change. This is not just about understanding your issues—it’s about actively learning practical tools that help you shift from reacting to responding in a way that feels more aligned with who you want to be.
